Jelena Končar
Serbian-born mezzo-soprano Jelena Končar studied singing at the University of Arts in Belgrade with world-renowned soprano Radmila Bakocevic. During her studies she became a prizewinner of several competitions, as well as a scholarship holder of the Anita Mezetova Fund.
Her career began early when, as a student, she became a member of the ensemble at the National Theater in Novi Sad, Serbia. There Mrs. Končar sang the roles like Flora (Traviata), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), but she quickly developed and took over the roles like Carmen (Carmen), Adalgisa (Norma), Fenena (Nabucco), Amneris (Aida).
As a scholarship holder of the CEE Music Theater in Vienna, she gave guest performances in Romania and Germany. In 2013 she was awarded Best Female Performer for the role of Miss N.N. (Zoran Juranic's The Last Flower of Summer) at Armel Festival in Szeged (Hungary). This production was also shown on ARTE TV.
As Ioanna (The Maid of Orleans) in a production by Franck Van Laecke, she was seen in Lubljana (Slovenia), and in 2021 she had great success as Fenena (Nabucco) in Zagreb, under the musical direction of Pier Giorgio Morandi, and staging by Giancarlo del Monaco.
