Eliška Weissová

Soprano Eliška Weissová graduated from Brno Conservatory and Prague Academy of Music. She was awarded in several singing competition including the first prize in the Antonín Dvořák International Voice Competition.

Since 2006 she has been a permanent guest of the National Theatre Prague, where she started out as a mezzo singing roles like Maddalena (Rigoletto), Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera), Azucena (Il trovatore), Amneris (Aida), Fenena (Nabucco), La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica), Witch (Rusalka), Grandmother Buryjovka (Jenůfa), La Cieca (La Gioconda), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana),  Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride), the Fortune-teller (The fiery Angel), La Comtesse di Coigny (Andrea Chénier) and Kostelnička (Jenůfa).

Internationally, Eliška Weissová has performed at the opera festival in Wexford, Ireland, as Martinka (Smetana: The Kiss), in Opéra de Rennes, Opéra-Théâtre de Limoges and Grand-Théâtre de Reims as Kostelnička (Jenůfa), in Opéra de Rennes also as Rossweisse (Die Walküre) and Ulrica, at the Slovene National Theatre as Foreign Princess and Witch (Rusalka), at the Theatre Erfurt as Azucena and Amneris and with Bayreuth festival as Rossweisse (Die Walküre) in Abu Dhabi.

In 2018 she successfully transitioned into a dramatic soprano debuting as  Giorgetta(Il Tabarro) at the National Theater in Bratislava. A number of other roles followed , such as Libuše, Fata Morgana (Love for Three Oranges) and Ortrud (Lohengrin) at the National Theater Prague where in February 2020 she debuted as Turandot (Turandot) and in September 2020 as Abigaile (Nabucco). In October 2020 she debuted as Isolde.

In March 2022 she made her debut at the Welsh National Opera as Kostelnička (Jenůfa) under the baton of Tomáš Hanus and will return in season 2023/24 as Milada in Dalibor (B.Smetana).
